DetailsThe front images were taken by photojournalists in the war zone. Central is a photo of a woman comforting a child. {I have wondered what happened to them?} The background is crumbling buildings painted in black & white because it reminds my of WWII newsreels.
The seat is the work of Maria Prymachenko who was a self-taught artist whose paintings are widely-known in Ukraine and internationally. Attacks outside of Kiev destroyed a museum that housed 25 of her works. Fortunately, local residents were able to rescue some of her work. The title of this painting is "A Dove Has Spread Her Wings and Asks for Peace," painted in 1982--and so relevant today.
The back of the chair is the Ukrainian flag with the triton. -
